What are my options to redirect my Telstra numbers

If you are moving outside the Telstra exchange boundary then you may need to arrange a number redirection either temporarily until they can be Ported to another carrier for delivery to your new site or semi-permanently until you feel that your advertising has ensured your customers know you have had a number change.

As of December 2019 the only option for a redirection is to simply redirect to the new number. Announcement only and announcement plus redirection are no longer available.

With Number redirection you can:

  • Retain use of an old number while transitioning to a new number
  • Maintain continuity of business after a move or a technology change.
  • Delay cost of new stationery until old stationery runs out, and the cost of changing can be spread over a long period of time

Number Redirection offers 2 package types:
1. Pre-paid fixed term

  • Pre-paid for a fixed term of 3, 6 or 12 months after which the service is automatically cancelled
  • Customer is charged a single once-off fee at the beginning of the term
  • Does not support modification to Destination Number
  • Not entitled to rebate if redirection cancelled earlier than term of package
  • Must be preselected to Telstra (if usage charges apply).

2. Standard monthly package

  • Customer is charged nil connection fee with an ongoing rental charge
  • Supports modification to Destination Number
  • Only package available for Indial services.

Basic/PSTN Service Pricing (ex GST)

Standard monthly package rental:

  • $27.45 per number month post paid
  • $99.95 per 10 or per 100 number block per month – minimum of 3 months. The entire range has to be pointed to a single number – 1:1 mapping to a new indial range is not possible.

Pre-paid fixed term packages rental:

  • $30 for 3 months
  • $60 for 6 months
  • $118.18 for 12 months.

why the cost of changing can be spread over a long period of time?

If you have a number change then if you have had the number for a long time your customers need time to get used to the new number.

As of 1.2.24 does the same direction rules applytgx

Announcement only and announcement plus redirect were withdrawn subsequent to the posting which has now been updated. You are can only do a redirection now.

It is worth porting the number to another provider so it can be delivered to your new address or even to a softphone app.
