This notice announces the end of sale (EOS) for Wi-Fi 5 models XD4-240, XA4-240, and XH2-240 access points, and end of sale of XMS-Enterprise for new installations effective 5th of October 2022.
As per Cambium Networks Product Lifestyle Policies these three access point products will be supported by software development for new features, maintenance patches, and bug fixes for three (3) years after the effective EOS date. Exceptions may be considered by Cambium for critical bugs and security-related exposures. The End of Support for hardware warranty claims and all software-related support is five (5)
years after the effective End of Sale date.
End of Software Development Effective Date: 5th of October 2025
End of Support Effective Date: 5th of October 2027
XMS-Enterprise:
Per Cambium Product Lifecycle Policies (https://www.cambiumnetworks.com/support/product-lifecycle/), XMS-Enterprise compatibility will be provided for three (3) years after the effective End of Sale date of the associated hardware.
End of Support Effective Date: 5th of October 2027
List of Compatible Replacement Access Point Part Numbers:
AP Model | Description | Notes |
XV2-2 | Indoor 2-radio, dual-band 2×2 Wi-Fi 6E AP, 2.5 GbE, BLE | Replacement option for low cost Xirrus 2-radio access points without SDR |
XE3-4 | Indoor 3-radio, tri-band 4×4/2×2 Wi-Fi 6E AP with 5/6GHz SDR, 2.5 GbE, BLE | Replacement option for Xirrus 2-radio access points with SDR |
XV3-8 | Indoor 3-radio, dual-band 8×8/4×4 Wi-Fi 6 AP with SDR, 5 GbE, BLE | Replacement option for Xirrus 2- and 4-radio access points with SDR. The XV3-8 can be potentially deployed in place of up to 1.5 XE3-4’s or 2 XV2-2’s depending on use case. |
XE5-8 | Indoor 5-radio, tri-band 8×8/4×4 Wi-Fi 6E AP with multi-radio 5/6GHz SDR, 5 GbE, BLE | Replacement option for Xirrus 4-, 8-, 12- or 16-radio access points. Number of XE5-8’s in a design depends on density requirements (# devices per AP). The XE5-8 can potentially be deployed in place of up to 2 XV3-8’s, 3 XE3-4’s or 4 XV2-2’s depending on use case. |
XV2–2T0 | Outdoor Dual radio Wi–Fi 6 AP Omni 2×2, 2.5GbE, 30V/48V out, BLE | Replacement option for Xirrus 2- and 4-radio outdoor access points with omni coverage. More XV2-2T0’s may be required when replace 4-radio access points. |
XV2–2T1 | Outdoor Dual radio Wi–Fi 6 AP 120 deg sector antenna 2×2, 2.5GbE, 48V out, BLE | Replacement option for Xirrus 2- and 4-radio outdoor access points with directional coverage. More XV2-2T1’s may be required when replace 4-radio access points. |
Wi-Fi continues to dominate mission-critical networks in every market. As the reliance on Wi-Fi grows, so do the requirements to support lower-latency applications, higher bitrate, and higher density. Consumer-grade devices, such as smartphones and tablets, are increasingly used in enterprise and retail networks alongside purpose-built handheld computers. In markets such as education, hospitality, and MDU/MTU, new devices are upgraded quickly and now support the IEEE 802.11ax standard in 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequency bands.
Advantages:
- Dual-band and tri-band operations cover 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and/or 6 GHz.
- Software-defined radio (SDR) delivers design flexibility and investment protection and allows customers to adapt the network as the device needs grow.
- Multi-radio architecture with up to 5 radios per AP provides the most effective use of Wi-Fi bands, under SDR control, for high-density applications.
- Multiple 6 GHz radios in some models, under SDR control.
- Wi-Fi 6E Migration Assistant in cnMaestro X and XMS-Cloud that tracks network devices over time and reports and recommends when a 6 GHz network operation is optimal.
- Seamless integration with the wireless-aware cnMatrix line of intelligent Ethernet switches.
The suggested replacement for XMS-Enterprise for new installations depends on customer requirements as outlined in the following table:
Scenario | Potential Replacement Product | Notes |
On-premises management mandatory | cnMaestro X On-premises | cnMaestro X On-premises is the only option |
Cloud management acceptable | XMS-Cloud or cnMaestro X Cloud | Selection depends on feature requirements of customer |
Ability to also manage Cambium fixed wireless | cnMaestro X On-premises or Cloud | cnMaestro X required to manage Cambium PTP, PMP, ePMP, 60GHz, etc |
Ability to also manage Cambium cnMatrix | XMS-Cloud or cnMaestro X | Selection depends on feature requirements of customer |
Existing XMS-Enterprise customers can continue to run the application until the End of Support date indicated in Section 2. Customers have the option and should be encouraged to convert their installation to XMS-Cloud or cnMaestro X. An XMS-Cloud Conversion promotion is available with incentivized pricing for customers to migrate from XMS-Enterprise to XMS-Cloud.
