
As we approach the end of 2022 we need to remind you all of the Carrier Embargo Period that occurs over the Christmas and New Year break.
This occurs every year and during this period no new services are provisioned by the major carriers. Some of the smaller SIP trunk providers may still connect new services but it wouldn’t be possible to Port numbers across to them until after the embargo ends.
The Carrier Embargo Period runs from close-of-business Friday the 23rd of December 2022 to 8am Monday the 9th of January 2023 with restricted works taking place a week either side of these dates. Orders can still be placed and will progress up to a certain point but their completion will be delayed until after the 9th of January. Depending on the complexity of the order it may take many weeks to complete.
If you are planning to relocate your office as many choose to do in this quiet period then you need to get relocation orders placed immediately. As a temporary measure you can run your SIP trunk over a 4G/5G connection but this may not be sufficient for general Internet browsing.
Faults will still be attended to but due to reduced staffing levels services may take longer to restore.
Bear in mind, this only applies to the Carriers – phone system providers such as ourselves will still be available for installations or moves, adds and changes.
